Easy Bat Cake for Halloween

Halloween is almost here!  You can never be too safe -- don't forget to check all the candy that your kids collect while Trick-or-Treating.  Here's an idea.  While you're checking their treats, why not serve them this cute Bat Cake?  You'll have time to make sure their treats are safe while they enjoy a fun, cake made especially for them on the holiday.  You can easily create this Bat Cake using the downloadable cake pattern from CakeShapes Designs.  This cake  does not require any special shaped cake pans, expensive cake decorating supplies, or special cake decorating skills.  You only need the downloadable cake pattern. Simply bake a 9" round cake and then cut, arrange, and decorate. I iced the cake with gray icing, but chocolate icing would be great too.  I simply added some string licorice along the edges and added two  lemon drops for the eyes and two chocolate chips for the ears.  Your kids will go "batty" for this fun, easy cake.  You can also use the cut up cake pattern for a Batman birthday party, after watching a favorite vampire movie, after watching bats in flight, or to celebrate building a bat house.

Swimsuit Shaped Cake Cut Up Cake Pattern for 2012 Olympics

This week I've totally enjoyed watching the 2012 Olympics, especially the swimming, diving, and gymnastic events.  Those athletes are totally amazing.   I'm so proud of the USA's athletes, teams, coaches, and families!  Here's a cute cake that would be perfect for an Olympics watching party.   It only requires two 9-inch square cakes and some decorations that you can find in your local supermarket.   For this cake, I just added some flower-shaped candy sprinkles to the cake.  To celebrate the USA's Olympics teams, you could use red, white or blue icing and dust some colored sugar on the cake to add some sparkle.  Or, add some star-shaped sprinkles to the cake.  With my downloadable cut up cake pattern and these simple cake decorating ideas, you can easily create this fun cake for a kids birthday party, a pool party, a swimming party, a swimmer's party, the swim team, the diving team, a swimming competition, a diving competition, the swim coach, or the diving coach.  It could also be used for a gymnastic party too.

IndyCar Race Car Cut Up Cake

Everyone will race to the table for this race car cake!
Today I plan to watch the IndyCar race at Milwaukee.  I hope that the weather is not a problem.   Since I recently changed my television channel line-up, I only get to see the IndyCars race when broadcast on the major networks.  Here's a cute, simple cake to make for race day or a racing fan.   It only requires a 9-inch square cake and some decorations that you can find in your local supermarket.   For this cake, I used a vanilla wafer for the driver, some rolled fruit for the car number and stripe.  Two Ding Dongs worked nicely as the wheels.   With my downloadable cut up cake pattern and cake decorating ideas, you can easily create a Race Car Cake shaped cake for a birthday party, a kids birthday party, a racing fan, a tailgate party at the racetrack, a day at the go-cart racetrack, or while watching Indy cars race this season.  As you can see, no cake decorating tools or skills required.  Make this cake today for your racing fan Dad on Father's Day!
