It's not too late to dive in!

Who said that summer is over? Here in Texas, you'd never know that it is officially fall season.  It's not too late to cool off at the pool here.  Why not host a pool party to close out the summer?   Where there's a party, you must have a cake!  This easy pool cake will be great at a pool party, for a swim party, for a kids birthday party, for your water aerobics class, for your swim team, for a diver, for a swimmer, and other celebrations.   You only need a 9" square cake and a 9" round cake to make this pool cake.  No special pans are needed.  You can make this cake TODAY by downloading the Pool Cake cut-up cake pattern. Just cut -- arrange -- and decorate.   Add some icing and some decorations and dazzle your guests.  I'm not a "cake decorator" professionally.  You don't need to be either.  All the decorations on this cake were also bought at the local supermarket.  Add some rolled fruit and Life Savers candies for pool floats, a piece of gum for the diving board, and some bear cookies.   I added a pool side umbrella too.  Be creative.  Let the kids help decorate this fun cake.

The race is on -- to this fun, simple Indy race car cake

The race is on at the Indy 500!  Watching this amazing race is a tradition at my house -- a family tradition.   There's usually never a dull moment.   However, your family and friends will race to the table to get a piece of this cute race car cake.  It's a very simple cake to make for race day or a racing fan.   It only requires a 9-inch square cake and some decorations that you can find in your local supermarket.   For this cake, I used a vanilla wafer for the driver, some rolled fruit for the car number and stripe.  Two Ding Dongs worked nicely as the wheels.   With my downloadable cut up cake pattern and cake decorating ideas, you can easily create a Race Car Cake shaped cake for a birthday party, a kids birthday party, a racing fan, a tailgate party at the racetrack, a day at the go-cart racetrack, or while watching Indy cars race this season.  As you can see, no cake decorating tools or skills required.  Make this cake today for your racing fan Dad on Father's Day!
